Understanding color with LED's

I've been reading more in depth what coloring does or does not do when it comes to setting your lights up for a mixed reef. If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like you get your tank looking the way YOU want, and then measure the par levels to see how far you're off, and adjust certain colors accordingly. With the end result not being that far off what you wanted in the first place. Visually.

I read that the uv lights dont add much of anything in helping coral growth. While violet, and blues are a big par adjuster. The reds and greens are another adder that doesnt do much for coral growth. Then the last color is white. Depending on the color temperature, this is mainly for a visual. I think it can help with par levels, but too much, you run the risk of algae outbreaks.

Is this a good summary of how to determine your light output? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
