Uniform Reef Eel

is ayone else keeping a uniform reef eel (uropterygius concolor) , i think thats what it is. so far so good it's been almost a week now. how often and how much should i feed it. it's about 16 inches long and now he wants food (silversides- frozen) every day so i give him about 3. he hasn't bothered any of the other fish and they don't seem to be concerned about him.

Ive had one in my reef for over a year now with no problems. The only fish that I am not able to keep are firefish which i was told they eat in the while! mine eats silversides 3-4 times a week. the more active they are usually means they are hugry. as they get used to the tank, they will be out and about more aswell...I love mine!

thats good to know, my firefish jumped out a month and a half ago. i cover my tank for the night and take the glass off before i go to work now that i have the eel. saw it in london last week and could't pass on getting it. kept biting through the bags so i left it loose in a plastic container for about 36 hours including a 7 hour flight. the damn thing just doesn't remember that anemonies sting. going to order my first digital camera tomorrow so soon i can start posting pics of my tank.

For a while mine used to always hang out under my BTA...not sure if they actually get stung by them or not! even now once in a while he will hang out in the cave by the anemone but my pair of GSM's are always breeding...so they shew awway who ever gets too close! I have mine with a Midas Bleeny, royal gamma, neon gobys, fairy wrasses, and it doesnt pay any attention to them....maybe if I stopped feeding thatd be a different story! but I dont paln on doing that anytime soon!
