Unusual feed for corals

I'm setting up a new tank and it will have a non-photosynthetic gorgonian. That means feeding the coral.

I have bought a bag of whey protein (unflavoured) to raise the protein content of my discus' beefheart mix, but as you can imagine I don't use much. Can that be used to feed the coral?

Also on a smaller FW tank I have a yeast-based CO2 bottle, and every time I do maintenance on it I get plenty of yeast that I normally throw away. Can that be fed to the coral?

It's not a question of money per se, I am currently feeding the corals in my larger tank with reef roids and the plan is to use them on the new tank too, but it seems a pity to have this stuff and not use it (if it can be used this way, that is)

that would be a diodogorgia nodulifera (red finger gorgonian etc...)

I don't know anything about whey protein - I don't even know what it is. But that coral readily accepts a variety of foods - cyclopeez, reef roids, most coral foods.

I think you'd be fine, but if it's not a money issue, I'd use commercially available food for the little guy. BUT, if you want to do an experiment, go ahead! Let us know how it goes! :D
