i was feeding my sun coral id say about 2 weeks ago. i dont know what it was but for some reason something i fed it did not agree with it on that paticular feeding. it was a mixure of squid, cyclopeeze, brine, frozen fish eggs and some vitamin supp. well the sun coral being the intense eater that it is, ate all that it could then about 30 minutes later starting spitting it all back out. every polyp closed up shop until maybe 3 days ago. when the polyps did come out i noticed that the tentacles were darker in some areas; kinda like dead limbs on a tree. then later that night it started loosing those dead limbs and they started floating around the tank. there were these little dark orange limbs floating around everywhere. ive had corals get damaged in my tank before only to come back better than before so i didnt pay it much mind and sure enough the sun coral came back healthy as a mule. heres where it gets weird though. the little cast off tentacles...............they all have planted themselves on various pieces of live rock and have started encrusting. i can see the smallest of polyps on every one as well. id say theres well over 50 of these new polyps around my tank!!!!!! has anyone ever seen a sun coral reproduce in such a manner?? if it can even be called reproduction. seems more like a defense mechanism like when an anemone thinks its gonna die itll split. -amnesiac
