Unwanted Mushrooms

How do I get rid of unwanted mushrooms? They are taking over my tank. On rock I don't want them on, etc.

you can use bone cutters to cut the rock, you want to make sure you get all of the foot or they can grow back. Or cut the head off and put some epoxy over the foot to keep them from growing again. Give away or sell the heads they will grow a new foot.

Cut em off, epoxy and throw away/give away the pieces, just make sure you don't let them float around the pieces will reattach and grow back. If you do end up cutting them and are going to toss em, I would pay for shipping if you wanted to throw them in a flat rate box with some water.

Make sure you don't leave any piece of the mushroom left -- it will grow back. Many years my 75 was over run with them --- I had to sell off EVERY single rock.

Hi,

I used to have a tank full of mushrooms. I mean full. Every rock and bit of sand was covered. I put in a finger leather and within a 2 months it start to grow like crazy and mushrooms started to disappear. I only have 1 or 2 now.

Either the leather poisoned the mushrooms, but did not effect any of my other coral, or the leather took what ever nutrients that the mushrooms were using. In either case I was left with lovely finger leather colonies that are easy to trim.

If you try it let me know how it goes. I wonder if my case was a fluke.
