Updated images of my 10G. Thought I would share.

I figured it was time for another update, since I've added quite a bit since the last time I shared on here.

We'll start with a full tank shot:

Major changes since the last time I posted a thread here on RC:
  • No more torch. It had grown too large and was stinging other inhabitants.
  • Added a clam, which I'm sure you can't miss.
  • Big colony of zoas in the upper right. I'm betting people have seen polyps like this before. They're pink and have a bright green mouth. They're quite nice.
  • Added several other zoa frags, which are spreading. Can't wait till the rocks begin to get covered.
  • Removed one of the big mushrooms in the upper left. It was shading everything under it, and was killing my pink star polyps.
  • In the mushrooms's place is now a single Acan Lord head. I can't wait for this to spread.
  • A few random pieces have been moved around.
And now, more pictures:

My new clam.

These are very cool as well. They have a maroonish skirt, red rings and white mouths.

I've seen these called Red People Eaters. They're pinkish, with bright green mouths.

Pink birdsnest I got today.

New digi. Yes, the polyps really are that orange.

I have 2 frags of these. I've seen them called Green People Eaters.

Continued from above...

The green in these just burst out once I changed my bulb.

Check out how long those orange skirts are.

And finally, Nemo and Oliver (as named by my girlfriend).

And that's it for now. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the kind words.

For water changes, I try and do about a 2 gallon change every 5 days or so. Normal top off is done between changes.

Steve

o yea and love the zoa's.......

How about a link to the beginning thread for those of us that have not been around long enough to see this beautiful tank evolve,

Thanks. I do not run carbon in the filter. Given the frequency of water changes, I haven't felt it's needed.

And here's a quick run through of full tank shots that I have from the evolution of the tank:

It started out at a 5.5G:

That was outgrown, and I moved into a 10G. Here is the 10G as of May:

In its 10G form, the tank is 6 months, 2 weeks, and 3 days old. :D

Any plans on jumping up to a larger size in the future? looks like you are about ready for a 30 gallon with all the beautiful stuff you have in that 10

Budget constraints dictate that there are no larger reef tanks in my immediate future. I have an old console TV frame with a 29 gallon tank that fits inside that will be setup as a home for a pair of small lionfish (like the Fu Manchu Lionfish, or similar), which is my next project.

Other than that, my next reef will be a 2.5g that I've already had drilled in preparation. It's an experiment that will be lit strictly by LEDs (so, if anyone has a good, cheap supply of blue and white LEDs, I need a total of 189 :-) ). It will mostly be zoas, but we'll see what else I can keep in there.
