Upgrading already..

Just took one of Les' old 40 breeders from his old shop.. I'm using a 1.5" drain now but his will have 3 1" drains.. that should work out to the same capabilities?

Not the same- but what most would consider better. (3) 1's gives you 1.3 times more total drainage capability as compared to the original 1.5 drain. However, you actually get 2 times the linear drainage contact area (the total linear "waterfall" length) - so you should be even better in terms of surface skimming (assuming they are in some sort of stand pipe arrangement).

Funny how that math stuff works...

(Of course the "better" is really an assumption based on those two drainaige systems in the same size tank- in a bigger tank that should have more flow - I made no assumptions about the total flow necessary. Also, that doesnt consider the fact that the flow will be more restricted in the (3) 1's because of more wall contact area).

(I leave those decisions as excersizes to the reader) ...

yeah les has a few tanks hes getting rid of if anyone needs predrilled sumps/fuges/tanks i saw a few of them as well so

i got a few i want to use as qt setup as well as hospital setup

always hear about how these are systems most people dont utilize so i figure they are perfect.

will do.. got my 20 refugium as well and will set up both at same time in 2 weeks or so.

I'll have a pakastani butterfly for trade available as well.. he's eating but enjoys polyps from sps a lot. If i can keep him well fed he may stop but I'll see.
