I'm getting a 180gal tank this week and I would like to use some of my current equipment, I have a sump/refugium 36x16x16. I was wonting to know if this will be large enough or will I need a bigger sump?

bigger is alway better!... since you will be having a bigger stand i would go ahead and make the upgrade to something different. i would use a 75 if you could put it under the tank. once you get the tank filled with water liverock coral and fish it will be a little difficult to make the change if you decided to.. just my to cents!

Same here my Penninsula tank is a 180g and i am using a 75g sump. Just make sure you plan your sump well. Leave enough space so if you check valve where to give our and the tank drained though the returns you would still have enough room in your sump.
Also another thing to calculate in the sump is how much water change area. For example my sump is 75g but with baffels and regurium there is less water. Total 1st section holds 20g that area is for my Filter sock and Skimmer. then i have Refugium which is 27g then i have a meadia section its about 3 gallons. so total i am using only 50g of sump space i have another 25g if something where to happen. When i do a WC i can pull out 40g easy then fill it right back up.
