Hi ,I just thought I'd share this pic (sorry about the quality) to see if anyone knows what species of urchin is in the back ground,he roams around eating the xenia that grows in my tank, sometimes we have to move him on when starts to climb on my morphs and other softies in the tank but genrally he eats the xenia and coraline algea ,and I could use a hand keeping the xenia under control, thanks for any info on him:bigeyes:

You could try looking up "pencil" urchin to see which species are being sold to the trade under that name (not sure if you collected it yourself or bought it.) It doesn't look like the Western Atlantic "pencil" urchin that I had, which makes sense given your location. But there are a few different species of these urchins, and they all seem to eat xenia. Mine also ate gorgonians.

Hey thanks for the info guys , I bought it at my LFS so it would have been collected from the north west of OZ or Indonesia ,thats where most of their stock comes from,we just love the colors on him so I just wasn't sure if it was a pencil or not, I'll try to post some better pics , thanks again
