Urchin realised something?

I was taking out my urchin because I was pretty sure it died and when I was taking it out side to put it in my yard wast it realised this yellowish stuff what is this will it hurt me or possibly my fish if it got in the tank. I think the it is a pincushun urchin and the stuff smells like ****.

How long has it been what you consider dead? If it's been sitting in the same spot for a couple days, it's very likely it died and started decaying and you just released rotten flesh into the tank is all.

Probably not the best for it, but your tank should be able to handle it unless it was cup fulls of the stuff.

When snails die, they turn to goo and will release what looks like black ink into the tank, smells horrible but it isnt a big deal unless you let out a lot.

It was in the same spot for 2-3 days started getting pale and losing its spines.

you might want to check for an ammonia spike. probably no problem for the tank, but if in doubt, do a water change.
