Hello,
While I was preparing my hospital tank for Ich treatment with copper, two of my tangs got really bad secondary bacterial infection due to the stress caused by the Ich i suppose. The Blue tang has a big wound on his tail. Someone bit him a week ago but I was hoping the wound will heal by itself as I am trying to keep a healthy tank, however that did not happen and lately it got really bad, tang stopped eating. I have been treating/cleaning the wound two times with iodine during the past 24 hours, he is in a net cage in the main display now, still alive but not doing well. Then I noticed today thay the Kole Tang that has been hiding for the past 24 hours is very pale with whitish mucus like spots on him, his mouth looks really swollen and I noticed some fungus around it.
My plan is to get them in the hospital tank RIGHT away and treat with good antibiotics. Then a copper treatement will follow, but first I need to stop the secondary infections as the two tangs will not make it.
Please advice if that's the way to go and what antibiotic is best to use in this case, something that will act fast so I could have some chance of saving both fishes and the rest of their tank mates in that matter. Thank you.
