Any one out there have a used protein skimmer for 75g reef tank. Just getting fed up with this crap seaclone skimmer. Tried doing mods on it now it does not skim. So before i buy a new one just wanna know if anyone has a used one for sale.

Also if you could recommend a very good hob skimmer would be fine. Nothing too pricey just under 250$ or close.

I might have an old seaclone you can have, used to work real good but was used insump.
I have done many a bio wheel mod years ago and it has been 100% better than stock.

The bio whel mod is the only one I havent tried yet. I may try it but probaly still wanna get I new skimmer.

Do you have a sump? Well just let me know if you need it to tie you over until you get you a new skimmer

Sorry no sump, but I may be close to making a decision just wating on a few answers.

Skyshrimp, you would need a sump for a Deltec 701 that thing is a beast. IMO I would look into setting up a sump, I might be off on this but most hang ons I have seen are not rated that high. Get a sump and look at that Deltec 701 from Reefy1

Can I make a dump out of a rubbermaid tub. I've always been kinda intimidared by sumps and overflows and all that stuff. Seems very complicated to do all that.

Not sure what you mean by a dump? I am sure you ment to post sump, sure you can used whatever you want, you don't need to buy a tank. depending on space availabe most of the time a basic tank is the easyest way. All I have as a sump is an old 20 long with skimmer and return pump thats it.

Seaclowns are sure not the best but they can work. All I did was swap the air adjust valve out and got good results on my 30gal. The one thing I notice was it required being completly taken apart and vinegar bathed weekly to keep it working. The skimmer is out of service now as the stupid J tube started to leak and couldnt be stoped. I picked up a Deltec MCE300 and it works better then anything, pl;us new they cost about $300. Someone on the Richmond club had one for sale not to long ago for around $150.
Here is a shot of the seaclown when it was in service. This was about 3 days worth of skimmate.

in sump. but i got a 55 or a 20 gal if u wanna make ur own sump ill sell u both together for $125 or $80 for the skimmer

An ASM g-3 for $80 dollars is a great deal, but will require a good sized sump, that is the way to go IMO.

If you decide to go with a hang on, the prizm pro deluxe I used to have and sold away is available. That skimmer has been discontinued but did a fair job on my 120 prior to putting a good skimmer in the sump. If interested let me know and I will give you the guys phone number, he switched to fresh water.
