Using a Garden Hose

I was going to move my chiller to the garage to reduce some of the heat in the house which would require about a 15 foot run both ways... anyone know if there would be anything wrong with using a new heavy duty commercial garden hose 3/4?

Thanks in advance.

Garden hoses are treated with chemicals to keep them pliable. I wouldn't use them for prolonged aquarium use. The only one that I know that is safe to use for human drinking water is the one that is sold to hook up campers to a water supply and it is usually white in color.

Thanks art after i started thinking about it i was like what am i doing just to try and save 20$.

Thanks for the reply good to know for future use though. I just spent a little more and got the stuff that I know works.

The chemicals leach into the water over time. If you use a sitting water hose to fill your tank, you should flush it out first (I do this with my freshwater tank). Using one long-term would not be good.
