using PVC to suport live rock

The system is up but the tank is empty. I plan to use the DSB method. I know your not suppose to put live sand under the live rock but can Iââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦
Fill the tank with 5 inches of regular sand get some 5 inch sections of schedule 40 PVC pipe and press into the sand all the way to the bottom. Place the 150pounds of live rock on the pipes for stability, filling in the voids at the base with reg. sand. Next I was going to add 1 inch of live sand around the formation. Oh yeah, my tank is a 125 gal

I have read that this a good idea especially if you are going to have fish that might burro under your rocks like Jawfish or other fish. I plan on doing the same for my tank when I finnally get it all put together. Good luck!

I think it might be best to avoid getting sand inside the pvc.. Wouldnt this form the perfect stagnate area for hydrogen sulphide to form?
