Using shrimp to test a young tank

Hello
I was hoping to pick up to clown fish today from my LFS but since I couldn't bring a water sample I was told to buy 12 ghost shrimp to see if my tank can handle the bioload. Which I took her advice and purchased the $3.00 worth of shrimp. Has anyone heard of this method before? Does it make sense? I did previously buy 2 clowns from them before which only lasted 2 days in the tank before they died of brooklynella. Now my tank has been FISHLESS for over 2 weeks now. Before I had purchased them I would weekly bring them water samples up until they game the green light. And the Only thing in my tank now are 2 GSP frags I purchased last night.
I have 75g tank bubble magus curve7 skimmer 40pds of dry rock and live rock rubble in the 18g sump.

If the fish had brook in your DT then you will want to leave the DT fallow for I believe 8-10 weeks to make sure the brook has died off.

FWIW I have not heard of the ghost shrimp method.

Wow
8-10 weeks....
I assume it was brook
Definitely wasn't ich

Will it affect the GSP
OR is it true that it only attacks the clowns?
