UV Filtration

the glass on the bottom of my metal halide light fixture blew up. I need to replace it, but am not sure if i need glass or what. Do i need glass underneath it to filter the UV rays?

can i use acrylic???

You can use Acrylic.

what about heat? do you think that itll warp and crack over time?

Is it an HQI lamp?
If it's SE/Mogul, you don't need that glass piece.
Otherwise... go get some tempered glass.

Go and get some tempered glass from any hardware store... before some serious sunburn!
