UV Sterilizer help your tank?

I never had one
If have UV Sterilizer, Tank water really clear?

I've been thinking of adding one also. My wife has a water garden that was always green with algee until we added a uv sterilizer to it and shazam no more algee. We had tryed everything elae and nothing worked. I'll be tagging along also.

I had a 36 watt Turbo Twist that I ran for a while. I didn't notice any reduction in algae in my tank nor did I notice the water becoming any clearer and I aslo had a powder blue tang die of ich. I don't think they hurt but I really didn't see much benefit from it, I sold mine and put the money toward a better skimmer. Just my experience with UV however.
