Does anyone run one? I put a generic 15 watt one on my tank a couple days ago and my water looks much clearer today. I was really impressed!

i run one and my water is very clear, but i shut it off when i feed dt's to the tank, i also only run 50gph through it, the faster the water runs through it the less it can kill.
since i run mine in my refugium i imagine it kills a fair amount of pods that would have otherwise made it up to my display tank to get eaten, so i'm considering only running it a couple days a week.

What exactly is it you are trying to kill with a UV Sterizer?
I was under the impression that they were not beneficial to reefs because they killed to many of the good bacteria...
Do they help with organics? is it meant to replace carbon use?
I have considered looking at using one but I have never been real clear on the effects on a full blown reef tank.

I'm not sure if they kill 'beneficial' bacteria or not i haven't done much research on them. I can say that it has DEFINITELY made my water clearer. I'm running it on an old mj1200 so it's probably getting around 200-250gph thru it.
on a non-related note, my powder blue tang and yellow tang are now getting a long fine together!
