UV Sterilizer

I'm looking to get a UV sterilizer but with so many different brands out there I wanted to see if anyone would recommend a certain kind.

I like the Turbo twist on my Freshwater tank. I have never had any problems with algae blooms, bacteria blooms, or most diseases since i put it on. It took loosing an entire tank of livestock to some 72 hour mystery disease to get me to pony up the money though.

As far as SW goes I think there are a lot of mixed feelings out there about them. They kill every living thing that goes through them, not just bad stuff. I am interested to hear some people with experience respond to this one. I'll tag along for the info.

why do you want a UV sterilizer?

I use them on everyone of my freshwater just to help keep the water clean and clear. I want the cleanest most prettiest tank around (or a least on my block) Am I wrong about UV on saltwater.

I think they're used differently in saltwater. I don't know about freshwater

both work just fine, it is only a light with water passing through a tube. If you used them on your FW then you know how they operate. I bought the jebo on a whim and I like it.

If you want one I would sell my 9w twist. good luck

for cleanest tank go with ozone. although not necessary at all.

keep in mind though that the ocean is not clean, and many corals do need food in the water.

Buy a neptune ac III with the orp probe w/ DC8 and a Red Sea AquaZone Deluxe 50.

if you want clean water run carbon and change out every month


you can use ozone but just becareful with it


a UV Sterilizer is a great thing with a fish only tank
