Vagabond Butterfly - Chaetodon vagabundus
Also known as: Indian Vagabond, Crisscross Butterflyfish
Maximum Size: the Chaetodon vagabundus grows up to 8 inches.
General Size Specifications: The small size will come to you generally 1 to 2 inches; the medium generally 3 to 4 inches; the large generally 5 to 6 inches not including the caudal fin.
Minimum Tank Size: The Vagabond Butterfly prefers a tank of at least 80 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Chaetodon vagabundus is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of meaty treats.
Level of Care: The Vagabond Butterfly is a medium maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Vagabond Butterfly may act semi-aggressively toward other fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
Range: Indo-Pacific.
General Notes: Chaetodon vagabundus, Linnaeus 1758, the Vagabond, Crisscross Butterflyfish. In the wild feeds on anemones, coral polyps, worms and algae. Compared with the similar Indian Ocean Chaetodon decussatus. Not to be confused with the much hardier Indian Vagabond Butterflyfish, Chaetodon decussatus, Cuvier 1831.
