I purchased a PT about a month ago from a LFS and I'm not sure if it has Marine Velvet or not. Considering I'm not 100% sure, I'm not going to treat until I can definitely make a diagnosis. Here's what I'm observing:
After eating, a more rapid respiration, which is normal when feeding is not occuring.
I can't really determine a dusting appearance, I can sort of make out a slight dusting of the skin if I look at the fish straight-on, but the lights have to be hitting the fish right. (and I'm running over-driven T5's, so plenty of light is hitting the fish). This could just be the scales of the fish, this is what I'm not sure of. You can't notice it all in an obvious way, you really have to look and wait for tge light to hit it right.
What makes me not think this is anything at all is the fact that I've noticed these coloraton on the skin for 3 weeks now and the fish has not been scratching at all and eats like a pig. So that's makes me think it's nothing, otherwise I would think he would be dead by now if it was Marine Velvet and it's been 3 weeks.
Any thoughts? What would you do?
