vermitid

read your article. it was one of those aha moments. i was about to search out this problem. i will start from the begining.

i have a reef tank and never had a problem with the snails nor had i ever seen one in my tank. the tank crashed. a problem with a float switch. most everything survived. excepting three mythrax crabs, a royal dotty back and a six line wrasse. i got the tank functioning and suddenly i noticed these worms. i identified them as vermitid snails. i have added nothing new to the tank except a pair of clowns. the snails are now taking over the tank. all this has transpired in the past 5 months.

so was it the crabs, pseudo chromis or wrasse that was keeping these invassive pests in check?

thanks,
doug

Hi,

It could have been the combination, or any of them. After the fact, I can't really tell. :D

IF I had to guess, I would say the wrasse/crab combination...

well its not the crab wrasse combo. 1 year later and these vemitid have all but taken over the tank.

any news on how to get rid of them?

thanks,
doug
