Vertex Illumina News

So, I did some investigation on the Vertex Illumia and why BRS and Premiumaquatics doesn't carry the illumina anymore.

I started by emailing a British vender to inquire if they ship international. However, they shut me down quick. No, they did not with no explaination. Trying to figure out why they would not dare to ship internationally in my head, I remembered the patent issues and how more importantly the fixture will not work on our grid. (UK 220v/US 110v).

I then searched for countries with the same grids as the US, turns out Canada has the same grid. I emailed JL Aquatics in British Columbia. I got word from them that they do ship to the US, but the fixture is in backorder. However, there is one US retailer still left, Proline Aquatics in California.

Ecstatic that there possibly might still be a vendor in our great nation, I saught out Proline Aquatics' sales team.

There is sh!t news and good news...

Sh!t News: Vertex illumina is extinct... went out of production last year. Good News: there is a new model coming out Spring 2016. Let's see! Just around the time I'll be ready to fire my 40 build up.

No, I didn't have to... I felt like it. Figured people would care to know. Would delete the others but I can't. Deal with it.

I don't see the big deal with these. There are plenty of fixtures out there that get you better features and led selection for less money.

Yes, I agree... There are better LEDs out there now. This fixture is 5-7 years old, and fixtures like Ecotech and Aqua Illummination have similar and by popular opinion better products.

However, remeber this is a German company, and by nature imports carry a hefty price. Moreover, the price would be the same if you had to light a 6ft setup with 3 or 4 radions or hydras. The Vertex allows you to cover that same tank with one light. Lastly, I'm interest in it for traveling sunset, lunar phases, and the fact that I can get 36in spread for my 40.

People say Ecotech will work on the 40 with the 120 lens ,but the company specific recommends 2 radions for 36in tanks. And for that price I could of gotten the Vertex.

Let's see if the people at Proline Aquatics were telling the truth about the newer model or just blowing smoke.
