Vertex Omega 150

Would this be too much for a heavily stocked 75 gallon total system volume setup? I was originally considering the Omega 130 but there isn't a vectra head for that size. I want to be able to run a vectra so was thinking I'd just jump up to the 1t0. But I'm worried I won't get consistent skimming if I do so.

I have the 150 and the 180i. I think the 150 is slightly large for your system but because it is heavily stocked should be fine. The Omega series is a very nice skimmer and the quality is top notch.

The Vectra is great as well so definitely get the Omega 150 so you can get the Vectra as well.

I'm selling both of my Omega's and getting a BK DC 180 RD3 but I think for the value and the system that you have the Omega 150 would be great!

I was originally planning on the BK 130 Double Cone but am not sure if the BK 150 is too much. Also I'm not sure if the differences between the Vertex and BK 150 are worth over twice the cost. Now if it's the 180 with the RD3 I get it, but without it I'm just not sure if the cost is justified over something like a Vertex

I'm a big fan of my 150. I currently have it on 50g QT and it still pulls a nice foam head. You'll be fine on a 75g.

The RD3 Pump is hands down the best pump on a skimmer available. I've had one on a BK SM 200 and one on a BK SM 300 RD3. It is super quiet and makes fine tuning a snap.

On your size, the Vertex Omega 150 is perfect for you. Get that, get the Vectra and save the other $500 for other items.

I am running a vertex omega 180i on a heavily stocked 90 gallon with decent results. The 150 should be fine on yours.

Thanks for the help all. I will be going with the 150. Worst case scenario I just need to add more fish and increase the amount of waste 😎

In my experience with the 150 over the past six months is that is took a few weeks to get dialed in but since it does a good job. Built to last and easy to add a float switch the the cup lid in existing holes.
