Very Cloudy!! Advice

Hey All, well my wife was very anxious and wanted to get the sand in while I was out of town. She dumped in the sand without rinsing it and also dumped in way too much. I took out a bunch of it and it made an even bigger mess. Its been a few days and its getting better very slowy.

Is this going to happen any time the sand moves on the bottom, or is it pretty much over once this goes away?

Anything I can do to get rid of it sooner, carbon?

We usually use all live sand, but this time, i spent a little less and got the regular stuff. I guess she didn't know it was different.

Any help appreciated.

same thing happened to me a few years ago. The only thing that worked for me was to scoop out all the sand, rinse and rinse until the drained water was clear and put it back in. It was cloudy for a few weeks before rinsing, and after it was perfectly clear the next morning.

It will clear up in a few days if you are running any kind of filter pads - you may need to change them often.

I use one of the small filters you put right in your tank to help clear it up faster. You can pick one up for 20 or so. They come in handy when you make a mess. You could also use a filter sock it will catch alot of it to.
