Very Fast pump caclification...

My Tunze alarm just went off....I cleaned it completely a month or two ago. I soaked it in vinegar overnight. I was surprised to find that the base of the prop was calcified again already.

I know how to fix the issue as per Randy's article. I am concerned about my Ehiem pump. How do you remove the prop to see if there is an issue? Do these pump frequently clog?

I tested my parameters and I am not sure why my pump calcified so fast.

10.5 DKH w/ELOS
390 ppm Calcium (tested a couple days ago) w/Salifert
1260 ppm Magnesium w/Salifert
PH has been on the high side at 8.3-8.4

Is it simply that my PH is too high?

Are you using RODI water?

I have lots of Tunzes and run my calcium at about 400-410. I rarely need to clean them from alarming. Not sure what your problem is.

I have to clean mine every 2-3 months as well. I attribute it to my high calcium(460-480) and high ph(8.2 - 8.45).

Adding calcium very slowly in the tank will stop this, usually kalk dosing and fast two part addition is the case.

I add kalk and two part with a Litermeter, which does very small amounts 150 times through out the day. Imo, the high the ph is the main reason it occurs so fast in my tank. I'm ok with cleaning the pumps often. I like running a high ph.

I do exactly the same thing. Only my 2-part is on my litermeter and kalk is 24/7 top-off via spectrapures UPATO unit.

Now that we have closed up the windows and turned the air on my pH has dropped down to 7.9 at night. It had been running at 8.2 at night and 8.4 during the day with all of the fresh air.
