video of my large bubble coral opening up (time lapse)

It's neat, but the framerate isnt very smooth... it would be better if it was a set 15 seconds between frames and you played 24 frames per second. Those are just suggestion numbers, because in your video there are moments when it pauses on a certain frame and just seems very chunky.

The concept is neat but it feels very blocky. If you dont understand what I mean, a good example of it is around 0:33 to 0:40.

Dont get me wrong, it's cool :) I'm just suggesting next time try to make it smooth!

Thanks for the tips... I didn't do it at any particular rate.. I just ff by hand and recorded the screen using fraps... apparently you can speed up by a particular number other than 2x in windows movie maker. and premier pro is not liking my video recorders file type for some reason.

The frequency between your shots wont matter, you just need to make sure during playback that you're always at 24 frames per second or some set number, not 6 frames one second, 3 the next, 20 the next... that is what makes it look chunky.

no u dont' understand what I did. when i edited the video I didn't set the FPS... i literally fast forwarded the video as I was watching it with my mouse and recorded what was played on screen. The pauses were me probably pausing lol

Ill try to do a better one tomorrow morning when the lights come on.

If you have windows movie maker it works great for these I have only made one that did not turn out as good as would have liked, but it was only my second day with a dslr. The frame rate doesnt matter much as long as it stays the same. Here is mine
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uXe5LmtJi28&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uXe5LmtJi28&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

In movie maker once you add the photos you go to edit tab and then adjust the duration. The one i posted i think is at .18 seconds. You just have to play with it until it seems to flow good, not always 24 fps sometimes much slower will work much better.

Oh... its not photos I have. I record video and just speed it up.

That is much better, it is so much smoother than the previous.

For what it's worth, I'd still speed it up another 100-200%, you dont want to make someone sit for almost 2 minutes during a time lapse unless a LOT is happening. I'd say try to cut it down to at least 30 seconds.
