Vinegar Cleaning

WhenI soak my heater and pumps and protien skimmer in vinegar (i let them run while doing so)...how long should I wait before taking them out?

What I have found helpful is to use an old toothbrush. I do a little "pre-cleaning" before hand, and after about an hour. That seems to speed up the process.

If you really want fast, try a dilute muriatic acid bath. Just remember to add the acid to water and not the other way around. It took this tank (check out the powerheads)

in minutes.

HOLY CRAP!! Is that safe?? How much rinsing out did you have to do to make that reef safe again?

It is not that bad, actually. It can easily be neutralized with baking soda afterwards, if you are not confident of its removal.

How much baking soda? Are we talking about adding it to the tank water to raise SG back to normal? Or a baking soda rinse?

i run them for 6 hours, then take apart and scrub,i rotate pumps, you should have back up pumps in case they fail anyways, return takes a dump, youll have to wait overnight the least
