Vivid Rainbow Delight Growth/Color Progress

65g Ritteri Tank
I just received a frag of this beaut and wanted to make a thread on it as you never really see them around. I'll be keeping track of its growth and color. I have it up high in my tank, tank specs are below. Already had great color.

Located high up on the tank ~650-700 PAR. It is encrusting nicely onto the rock and the tips are a bright purple. If you look closely, you can see a lime green growing in the base in the back..I expect in time, the orangish color will turn to the lime green like in the picture at Vivid. I'm happy with my showpiece so far

I don't know alot about SPS corals yet, lol that being said, I would think the first pic after you bought the coral is what the coral should be looking like and it seems by the latest pic that the corals is losing color. Are you worried that the coral isn't doing good, or is this normal?

pretty common actually

Some beauties just need time to establish them selves. Some acros will lose there color as small frags and them come back once happy and established.

I do need to nab that aiptasia. In my experience with SPS, you dont really get the full color of a coral until a mini colony has formed. I've gotten a frag before of a milli that was a brown color and after it fully established it was pink with blue tips

Sorry for the long gap between updates...couple things have tied up the life outside of reefing and the tank was on strickly maintenance mode for a while. After moving everything into a new tank (same size tank, just drilled with internal overflow) I allowed the showpiece to establish again into a position. It definitely has paled out in color but is now coming back to its original glory. So from this point on I'll try to incorporate bi-weekly photos for comparison.

Looks like it is showing nice growth. How does the color in the pic match with the true color? Are you happy with it?

I couldn't really capture the color in the tips but they are growing in purple/green/blue color. Like I said its only been a few weeks since I moved everything into the new tank so it has really settled in nicely. Polyp extension grows by the day. Looking on it from the top down, I'm really excited to see where it goes from here. I'll get some PAR numbers later if that helps people.

Blues, purples and greens are more prominent now..couldn't capture all the colors with my camera..for some reason I keep getting a glare off the coral. Note: I had some sps on the top of my tank that were really getting hit with serious light so I have switched to 175W 12k reeflux bulbs from my 250W Radiums. PAR dropped about half in some areas. I have pretty clean water so I'm hoping that some of the corals will deepen in color with the lower PAR and when they do I'll switch back to the Radiums. I have noticed better polyp extension under the lower PAR.
