Recd this in my email from a very popular online reef publication I subscribe to. There's been a lot of talk about ecotechs recent price drop. Maybe here's a teaser of what's to come.
It is highly likely that Ecotech Marine will launch new generation Vortech pumps in the coming months using new pump technology that has yet to be revealed. According to information we have dug up and other signs pointing to a refreshed pump lineup including a new feature called "œQuietDrive" and other new features are expected to be included into the next generation of Vortech pumps and accessories.
We have stumbled on a QuietDrive trademark filing submitted way back on October 9, 2014 and describes, "œAquarium pumps and parts therefor, namely, motors, o-rings, nozzles, propellers". A generally vague statement that encompasses a wide variety of methods the new "œQuietDrive" feature could be included on these next generation water movers.
Interestingly, the recent price drop of current generation Vortech MP40s is another reason we believe a next generation Vortech pumps are seemingly in the works. Outside observers stated the increased competition forced the move but that does not jive with how Ecotech Marine has managed their high-end line of premium aquarium pumps.
On top of all that, our annual Reef Stock conference is literally right around the corner and has been a source for major aquarium brands to reveal new products at the show. For example, the first Ecosmart controllers were announced at Reef Stock several years ago and our 2015 show is less than one month away. Could Ecotech Marine turn the industry on its head again? While their LED lighting has been receiving all the spotlight and glory it has been around five years since a new pump has been released by the company.
If you thought talking to Ecotech Marine might prove helpful you would be in for a surprise. When reaching out to them for comment on the article we received no reply to our requests for comment.
