yes i clean it. i usually get some algae on them so i brush them off with a toothbrush. i think ill be putting it in vinegar next time to take off the coralline
Every few months I soak the wetside in 50/50 vinegar/water for about an hour then take apart and scrub with brush until everything is off. Rinse well and put back. I was amazed at how much difference the cleaning makes. Maybe it's all in my head but I swear it is stronger after the cleaning.
Clean mine the same. Bought a spare wet side so I just change it out and clean the dirty one. Switch it with the other clean and put away for a month or so.
Ditto the above. I disassemble, vinegar soak overnight and then go at all of the parts with a toothbrush. They look like new again when I'm done, and they spin a little easier too.
i too soak mine in vinegar every 6-8 weeks and i agree that it does make a differance in output. i would think removing any build up on the driveshaft would have to make it spin easier. i don't soak the wetframe though as i actually like the look of coraline aglae on it.
