Vortechs for smaller tanks?

Has there ever been any discussion on a Vortech for smaller tanks and/or cubes? I'm currently using a 30" 50 gallon tank so it seems my choices are limited. If it's not in the works, how do the current Vortechs work on smaller non sps tanks?

thanks,

that's riduclous! What are you keeping in there, salmon? How do you keep your fish from being plastered to the glass on the opposite side?

Seriously, to you have the thing cranked all the way down? Are you running a bare bottom tank and sps? Inquiring minds and all that.

thanks,

the fish love it, they just sort of hang in suspended motion from the indirect blasting off the glass. I have my controller little less that 1/2 way, I keep all SPS and they love it!

PS. I do have sand, not deep mind you but sand with no sandstorms

I have a VorTech on my 30g tank (24" long) without any issues. You have to remember that you can dial the flow all the way down to 300gph... I don't even keep mine at the minimum setting and it is basically all of the flow in my tank. I have a MJ1200 as my return pump so it is not really giving much flow in the tank.

I did design and build this tank around the VorTech, but I don't see any issues in using it in a smaller tank as kev said above...

You can see the thread about my tank

I think the pump is doable in a nano setup. You have to remember the pump can go from 300 to 3000gph

I am in the same boat I have a 65gallon tank and am considering buying one but is this a wise decision since I would be buying a $350 3000gph pump to just dial down halfway. Is there an advantage to lifespan if you are using it throttled back?
