Tell me about dosing please.
I wont be up at 3am when the search engine is no longer busy.
Thanks

eh? whatdja say? it's kalk. dose like kalk. replace evaporation with a slow drip.

You can buy it at any salt water LFS usually but you can pick it up locally much cheaper. Mrs. Wages Pickling lime is the same stuff.
You usually mix it 1 - 2 teaspoons per gallon of top off water. Let it settle for 12 hours and then start dripping it in to replace evaporation.

You don't need to let it settle for more than an hour or so. Or not at all according to RHF.

I dump a pound into a 44gal rubbermaid the first of every month. A maxijet stirs it for 10min every 12 hrs. The timer on my dosing pump is set to be off for 60min surrounding each stir. Auto topoff replenishes the tub with RO/DI while the stir is happening. Doses into sump at a drip to match evaporation (which took 3 adjustments over the course of a week to get right).

Couldn't be easier.

Oh, and I get the lime (Mississippi Lime Co) in 50lb bags from a guy at a little hispanic shop near me.

ON Cermak (22nd St), in Berwyn. No idea of the name. I know it by sight and location but don't even know the streets. I usually have to call the guy a few days in advance to ask him to get the bags in. I've in the past picked up bags for others and met them, as he knows me and exactly waht I want so when I call now he knows without my tellin him what I need.

$50 a bag, so a buck a pound. If yo uwant, I can snag one. Can pick up in Oak Park in the evenings or in Lisle during the day.

Thanks. If you get a chance to post the streets/intersection that'd be great. Or grab me a bag I'd meet ya somewhere or pick it up. Thanks again.
