want your opinion

I have tryed 20k, 14k, 10k and 6500 and I like the 14k best for the look but the 10k with actinics seemed to make my corals more happy. The 6500 was just bad. very yellow and made algae grow like crazy. Are you speaking of you 200 reef tank? do you already have actinics on it?

I have the 12K Reeflux and they are absoultly amazing. Just the right amount of blue. I like them a lot better than my 20K's.

Keep in mind that not every 10k, 14k, or 20k have the same blue color. It really depends on the manufacturer of the bulb. For example, I believe the ushio 14k is more blue than the coralife 14k. Do a little research before investing in a bulb you won't be happy with. You might see if can swing by different members/future members houses to see what you like.

Double True Travis...

I had 20XMs that were not as blue (to the eye) as the Ushio 14K I am currently running. Though the 20K XMs may have the same amount of blue in the spectrum readout as the Ushios the XMs have a lot more out put in the 6500K range.

There are some really good, though somewhat complicated, threads on RC in the lighting forum. Sanjay has an excellent site for lighting check it out.
