for my 40 gallon i would like to have a large skunk shrimp, it has to be 2 inches long to be able to handle my 1 1/2 inch falco hawk fish. the falco hawk and large skunk shrimp in my 23 gallon have been doing fine since put together 3 months ago. i am asking here because i cannot find any big ones, all the ones i find are an inch or smaller, the shirmp has to be bigger than the hawk fish to be compatable.

also i just set up a 5 gallon with a yellow clown goby. i would also like to introduce a very small clown fish. i do believe mark knows some one who breeds them, a half inch fish would be good. i like googling at tiny things, i am the kind of person who gets all gooey when comparing a horse to a mini pony, or ducklings to adult ducks, comparing the tiny clown to the ones in my other thanks will be so cute.

the tiny tank is fun, its a place to put my zoo frags where they will not get lost :P

The only shrimp that will compete with your Falco is a mantis. Once that hawk gets bigger, shrimp will be on the menu. I couldn't have crustacea of any kind until I finally caught mine and gave it away. It even killed my little gumdrop gobies one by one.

i thought falcos get to be 3 inches? mine is nearly that and he has been fine with my skunk cleaner and my coral banded. he also leaves my TINY pj cardinal alone, but does chase my 6 line wrasse, the hawk tried to murder it when i added it, now it chases it on ocassion. i have even seen the 6line get right in his face and tease him (circles him, pecks at his little puffs on his back fins)untill the hawk chases him off. the hawk paid to mind to my black blenny and tiny pj when i added them, but he went mad when i added the 6line, why's that?

i have done some research online about falcos and shrimps, what i concluded from all the sites is that falcos are small enough to try having with shrimp and they some times get along with shrimp, but the shrimp has to be far to big to eat. but it is still risky as people have had their hawk attack a shrimp bigger than themselves by biting their bellies. there is already a fireshripm in the 40 gallon with the new hawkfish and its been fine (tanks been set up since newyears eve) even though its a tad smalaer than the fish. i only see the shrimp at feeding time but i have seen the hawk pass by it and sit near it w/out problems. the firefish also cleans my red anthia who goes over to its hole to be cleaned (SO CUTE!!!!!!!! it backs into the hole and the shrimp pops out and goes nuts) and so i REALLY would like to have a more active cleaner in there.
