I've gotten retrofit kits from Marine Depot and had good luck with them....... they're available lots of places. Hello Lights probably has them as well.

Welcome to the board, BTW :)

I am not familar with the kits but I can say that ReefGeek is A+++ as far as business and customer service.

Yes, they do! I have the Blue Wave ballast and the Sunlight reflectors and they're very good units, I'm very happy with mine.

What type of corals were you wanting to keep? I would definitely recommend getting 250watt halides rather than the 175s. If you decide to keep SPS you will have much better success with the more powerful lights. You would also be able to keep LPS at the bottom of the tank whereas with the 175s you might not be able to. Seems like overkill for now... but once the bug bites you will be glad you went with more powerful lights.

cool thanks to everyone, does anyone know of any sites that would have used stuff as well besides ebay?

I got an email from Sharky's Reef today with some used stuff listed. Here's one that might work for you:

"2) Coralvue 250 SE Metal Halide Kits, with new style blue electronic ballast, mini lumernac reflectors, 12 k reeflux bulb and all the cords to go along with it. Complete system kit includes all you need. Bulb is 6 months old.

** Price Guideline: $175 a kit **"

I think these are a pretty good deal. I don't know if they are shipping, you'd have to contact them to find out. Their email address is customerservice@sharkysreef.com
