i have an empty 46 gallon bowfront laying around with about 30 lbs of lr. what all do i need to get to start a seahorse tank? i know that they are very hard to keep but i believe im up to the challange.

First, search through the posts made recently. You'll find a lot of info, like the fact that seahorses aren't hard to keep, if you do RESEARCH and have the right tank setup.

:)

I don't have any seahorses yet but my seahorse tank is up and cycling.

I'm guessing that the hardest part with the horses is the fact that they need feed 2-3 times a day with foods that can't go in a auto feeder.

There are virtual libraries with articles on their keeping on both seahorse.org and syngnathid.org to get you started on the reading.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't pick a book. I'd pick the articles here http://www.seahorse.org/library/articles.shtml
Books have a tendency to either be out of date, or to focus on pictures and classification rather than care.
Tracy Warland has a book, and while I haven't read it, I expect it is a strong resource. I am not sure if it is available in the U.S. though.
