Was I ripped off? (Nuc Greens)

I bought a number of Nuclear Green polyps, and they hardly look like Nuc. Greens to me. I bought them for a reputable buyer, and everything else looks like what I bought.

I paid good money for these, and I can give the benefit of the doubt that they might have been under bright light and browned out, but all the polyps show no ressemblance, not even one.

If you think they are Nuclear Greens, what kind of lighting should I provide for these to bring them back to the desired shade?

I don't think those are Nuc Greens... I've never seen them brown out like that... I have seen them with brown spots from being stung, but not the entire paly turn brown...

Mine like HIGH light... I'm really not sure you could give them too much light... They'll stalk if they don't get enough light not turn brown though...

Here is what they should look like...

If you don't get this resolved PM me and I'll do my best to help you out...

good luck and sorry to see AND hear about purchases like that :(

On a related note.......i have a few button polyps that under my 10k halides look 100 times more nuclear than those........... but they are just plain old button polyps.

If it makes you feel any better...I had a guy last fall sell me some supermans.....they showed up half dead bright green with red skirts and he said that happens in shipping and under my 10 k lights. They were blue when he packed them he said. LOL

They died

Was this from a website or from a individual out of curiousity??

I dont own nuclear greens so i cant really say if those could or couldnt be.............but i can say that they didnt morph during shipping from the nuclear greens that everyone recognizes....to what you just posted a pic of. No way, no how. It looks like they shipped well and are healthy. Most reputable sellers would have at least warned you about the drastic difference in appearance before allowing you to buy the item.

I would say those are not Nuclear Green's at all. Well not the classic ones most here have come to recognize...perhaps your sellers version of NGs.

Did you buy them online based on a photograph or from someone based on a verbal "I have NG's for sale".

This is what my colony of NG look like.

From what I hear, water quality can change their colors. Obviously, your waters are not the same. I've heard there is an adjustment period. I know some of my frags a friend gave me had a small time frame where they were closed up, and when they opened they weren't as vibrant as they are now.

Thanks guys for your imput, I bought them from a seller on reefcentral who sells alot of stuff, so naturally w/ a A+ feedback I thought nothing about it.

I contacted him and he said they have been in the shade awhile, so thats why they look like they are (so my question in anyones experience does shade brown up NGs?

Agreed they can change colour, but not within a couple hours of entering a tank, more like over the period of a month +/-. There is little confusion when it comes to NG's, they are pretty distinctive.

Yeah....theres no way those are Real Nuclear Greens. No matter how long theyve been in the shade, there not NG. Who is the seller claiming these are NGs?

If you cant get it worked out with the seller LMK and Ill send ya a real frag of NG, as long as you pay shipping.

I can move these anywhere in the tank and they will always look like this, just not so bright.

Sorry. I have to agree, those are not nuclear greens. Just like other's have said... they can change colors but not instantly just after being shipped. Those definitely look more like button polyps. NGs are distinctly bright and colorful like people's pics.

I've seen Purple Deaths turn brown, but my Nukes never have. They got really dull at one point when I switched from PCs to MH, but never that brown. This is the best pic I have of it, though not great:

Morphology on those looks about right, see what they do...

I'm with the others, I don't think those are NG's... I've got a couple of colonies in separate tanks and they do have different lighting so they look slightly different from each other, but those are green button polyps. I'd throw a hissy fit and then back charge my CC.

I just got NGs yesterday, they were shipped overnite and I could still see the bright green color as I was acclimating them even though they were closed up.I hope you let proper feedback for whoever you bought them from if they don't make it right.I would ask for a full refund.

I am going to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, and give it a little over a week near the top of my tank. To see if any color regains in the right direction. So far, I am with you guys though, I see no resemblance. What makes it even more fishy, is that he did not tell me they were in the shade for three months until I mentioned the coloring. Before that point I expected regular NG.

I am trying to keep it civil. Even though the pictures speak for themselves.

I very much appreciate the feedback that everyone has provided for me so far. Ill keep you all updated.

Why give someone who ripped you off "the benefit of the doubt"? It's clear they aren't NGs and I'm sure the seller was well aware. Plus why did he sell browned out NGs in the first place? Get your money back.
