Was Wondering

I was looking in a magazine and came across this rail system for lights. i have seen them before, but was wondering the pros and cons of this item. why doesnt everyone have one. seems to make alot of sense. use 1 light instead of 3 (on a 72' tank/ 2 on a 48'). less power and cost of items. change one bulb instead of there. i mean if its just the noise of the little motor... hahahah its nothing compared to my tank. sense the coral farmers use it and they farm the corals it must still be enough light to make the corals grow? just wondering everyones ideas. thanks for any input you all have.

these are used more for grow houses. the wheels and bearings wear out fast because of the heat. i don't see why it wouldn't work on a reef tank!

I had one set up for a year over a six foot tank. The motor runs almost silently, at least compared to all of the other tank noise. My only issue was that the ends of the tank did not get enough light. I ended up shortening the travel of the "mover" too about 2/3rds of the tank and hanging the fixed 150W light over the other end. I am fairly close to setting this tank back up again(which for me means sometime in the next six months), but I think I will use two 250W lights on the rail instead of one 400W. I believe that Aquatic Eco carries complete rail kits. I also saw one in a hydroponics store on 436 near 17-92, might be less expensive.
