Water Change Question

Can i do a water change with Water from an established tank to get the beneficial bactera in my tank? Read my previous "1 Week ammonia spike" thread for the roots of this question

if you want bacteria, you're better off to steal some sand and/or rocks from a healthy established tank, or adding it directly using BW Microbacter, ZeoBak or some other probiotic product.

No. bacteria doesn't live in the water. Take some rock or sand from an established tank to get a jump start

i only use water from an existing tank if i quaratine something, some bacteria live in the water but not enough, so you are beter off if you just get some sand or live rock from an established tank, or if you are in a hurry to treat ammonia then use ammlock or prime,

The vast majority of the bacteria in our tanks are attached to something: glass, sand, rocks. Very few are benthic (free-floating). Take some sand or a piece or two of live rock to get the good stuff.
