Water cond

hi i have a 40 gal tank that has been set up for a while with only sand rock and a couple of crabs this tank has had a reg filter and the water was perfect then i put a 10 gal sump on my 40 gal tank today and the water cond spiked in all areas is this common and what can i do to get ride of this i have or will it lvl its self out



40 gal tank no skimmer mh light about 40 lbs of live rock and live sand also, no fish only a couple of crabs water temp is at 80

That is odd. With the amount of live rock you should not have had any kind of spike. What spiked exactly?? Did you stir up any of the sand? If things like ca alk mag and ph went up this is because you added more water volume to the tank and the new water has more trace elements in it.

yes some of the sand got mixed mainly the ph and alk
