water filter? recommendations

I have used the 6 stage water general unit from ebay for years. It is a good unit. When you need resin or new cartridges though, get them from air water ice. Much better quality, and cheaper. I have 2 of the pressure tanks on my system, it makes for a quick refill of the water barrel. I use my system for tank water, the ice maker, and a faucet for RO water mounted on the sink.

I also have the water general ebay 6 stage unit. I got rid of the useless 6th stage carbon filter, and changed out the 100gpd RO membrane to a 75gpd membrane (with the appropriate flow restrictor) from thefilterguys.biz and added their 10" "The Tide" DI filter. You'll burn through the standard water general DI very quickly. Love the setup now though.

Personally, I would spend just a few extra $$ and get a near top-end unit.

The Filter Guys

They are a small company that is REALLY dedicated to providing reefkeepers with top-end stuff. Their customer service cannot be beat.....something hard to find on Ebay.

When you compare prices, you will be getting a top-end RO/DI system for only $40-$50 more. Money well spent IMO.

My $0.02 worth.
