Water Flow

Hard to say without more info about your Bio load & filtration. Are you running a sump, what size? If you are relying on the live rock in the D.T. to filter the water then a lot of flow may be necessary. If you have a large sump with skimmer then strong water movement wouldn't be as necessary.

I have a 100 gallon sump and about 100-150 lbs of live rock. I'm planning on having a predator tank with an eel, lion, and puffer for sure. I am running a Diablo DCS 300 skimmer. Sorry for not providing this originally. I thought there would be a general answer.

I agree with all the comments so far, however, the question is vague because there are so many related considerations depending on LR formations, type of species, what foods you are feeding and generally it helps to have very efficient filtration. The fowlr I set up last Dec. 2016 has terrific circulation (30x) ,but it wasn't until it was set up and operating ,that I was able to tweak the systems to meet the bio load demands. These set ups are always a work in progress,as they get fine tuned ,over time.I am still playing with my circulation seven months later...
