hi all , im about to set up a new system 5ftx2x2 and was wondering what would be a good lph water movement to have ?
im going to have a mixed tank with few fish and loads of inverts.

You to aim for around a 30x turn over rate. I would just get 2 seio 1100s or maybe 3 and that would be good. Or you could get a couple maxi-jet 1200's.

Are you runing a sump and a return pump?

well im going to run two in case one should go and from what i been told it will be about 7000 lph , i cant check cos all the bits ive acumalated are in the shop still.

Well there are 3.7854118 liters in a gallon so that would be 1849.204344035665995158048629018 gallons.

Thats already a good pretty amount of flow. You might not need powerheads with that large of a return pump.

I'm still wondering how I'm going to do this with my 75g. Would 2 Sieo 1100s on an wavetimer (aquacontroller jr.) be sufficient for my mainly SPS tank? Or would it be more of a natural flow to run a CL with an Iwaki MD70RLT with about 5-6 outlets?

EDIT: Just remembered, Seios cannot be hooked up to a wavetimer, correct?

I heard you don't want to run seios on wavemakers but yes, two seio 1100s would be good for a 75 thats an SPS reef. Im running 2- 620's on my 75 thats going to be a mixed reed and I wish I would have gotten 820's or 1100's.

Yeah, if you run Seio's on a wavetimer, that turns them on and off, the hard starts will eventually crack the magnet drive in the pump.

You can ask TAAM, Inc. and they will tell you that the Seios are not designed for a wavemaker or timer setup. Don't frustrate yourself with them unless you plan to leave running constantly. Have you checked out the Wave2k? (wave2k.com) Mine shipped today... I should be setting it up this weekend!

Yea, I see that they shouldn't be run on a wavemaker. I was thinking about the wave2k a while ago, but then I figured any type of wave maker and an overflow box won't mix.

Well, it is decided that I will be running 2 Seio 1100s.
