Water Parameter Check

Hey Folks,

Day 6 of the cycle (using a shrimp) and wanted to bounce off some of my numbers to yall...

Ammonia: .5 PPM
Nitrite: 0 PPM
Nitrate: 40 PPM
pH: 8.3
Temp: 76.4
SG: 1.022

I was considering doing a 15-20% water change and adding RODI water that is mixed at 1.025 to bring down the nitrates and to bring up the SG...Thoughts?

keep waiting until your ammonia hits 0..

do a 24hr test by dosing ammonia to 2ppm, see if it dissapears within 24hrs. If it does, do a huge water change (~50%) and prepare to add CUC.

Alright, doing the 24 hour thing now...My nitrates kept going up and a hitchhiker red mushroom was starting to do, so I went ahead and did a 15% water change. It perked right up, ammonia is now at 0 and nitrates are at 5.

We will see what happens now that I've spiked the ammonia up to 2 ppm
