Besides SG do you typically check the Mag, Alk, Ca levels for new water you prepare for WCs? Or do you do the WC and then check the levels in the tank?

I check after the WC.

It has always been my preference to adjust wc water to tank parameters prior to doing the change.

Likewise. Since I use ESV salt, water change water parameters are always the same. I do exactly 40 gallons each time.

this is what I check for also. When I buy a new bucket of salt, I always check the first batch of newly mixed water to make sure all params are where they should be. Never know when you're going to get a bad batch of salt.
