Water Quality ?

My water was crystal clear and perfect...I go to work and when i got home it was cloudy?? Its been cloudy for 4 days now very VERY slowly it is starting to clear. Any suggestions on what the hell could of happened?? Thanks!

dosed any supplements?

initial thoughts: bacterial bloom or pushed pH too high somehow and started getting CaCO3 precipitation

Agreed. If all parameters checked out in the normal range and there were no additives that morning, it was probably a bacterial bloom. That's only harmful in that it can eat up all the oxygen and suffocate your fish in bad cases, so water changes are advised during a bloom.

Alternately, if this is a new tank with new, fine sand, something coul dhave kicked up a bunch of sand. When it's new and clean, it can take surprisingly long to clear.

ya it happened about a day or so after i added a new anenome...so maybe the new addition introduced some bacteria? I guess i will be doing a water change in the morning...Thanks!

Ah ha! The new anemone spawned!

Anemones often spawn under stress. It's good food, but a lot of nutrients in the water and can still suffocate your other inhabitants and maybe even start a cycle. The cure is still a nice, big water change.

That or the anemone went through a powerhead.
