Does anyone know if Walmart refillable water is ro? I called but they said they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. All they knew is it was filtered.

It's RO and DI and UV sterilized IF the unit is properly maintained. Around my place Publix also has a water kiosk and it is cheaper than WalMart.

Went to walmart and got 5 gallon ro uv water for $2 tax and all. They service the machine every 2 weeks it looks like by the checklist. It's 2.50 for 5g's at lfs
plus tax so I made out good.

I would get a gallon of the water and test it before using it. Our Walmart had one of those Culligan machines and the water tested over 150TDS!!! Publix was much better - had a TDS of 5. Not all of those machines are cleaned/maintained well - regardless of what the grocery store staff say or what the maintenance schedule posted on the machine leads you to believe!

We ended up using the Walmart brand RO distilled drinking water that comes in the 1 gallon jugs (I think its the ones with the green caps). Tested 0 TDS. Now we get our RODI from AC in 5 gallon jugs. In an emergency though, that distilled Walmart water comes in handy! :D

I used Walmart Culligan water for a couple of years and always tested it with a TDS meter (a good purchase). It never tested over 5 TDS, but it was way cheaper to get a RO/DI unit and stop lugging water in the car. Air, Water Ice (a RC sponsor) sells a unit called the Mighty Mite and it's completely portable and doesn't require any permanent hook-up. Well worth looking into.

I use to trust those "Water Machines", I use the term loosely. Tested my local grocery store's machine water once and found the TDS was 550!!!!! and then tested from the local super center's "Water Machine" and it tested 300 TDS!!! I was putting that crap in my thousand+ dollar reef!!!!

So let's do the math, shall we.....

The "Water Machine"

1 gallon = $.50

I need 14 gallons a week, 7 for saltmix, 7 for fresh water ATO.

14 x .50 = $7.00 a week.

$7.00 x 52 = $364 (What!!!!)

So I spend around $200 for a quality RO/DI unit for BRS that produces 75 GPD, has a TDS meter and a water pressure gauge. They ship it to me in three days and within 30 mins, I have 0 TDS water without lugging dirty water from one of those "Water Machines". Palm to Forehead! And save 300+ a year to boot!! Double Palm to Forehead!!

Now I have all the clean TDS free water I want when I need it! And my fish and corals couldn't be happier!!! (Really made a difference in coral growth and reducing algae.)

Go do yourself a favor and buy a RO/DI unit from someone, anyone and stop buying dirty water from those "Water Machines".
