watts per gallon and supplementation

Looking for a consensus on calculating actinic supplementation into the watts per gallon equation.

When ya'll calculate wpg do you add your actinic wattage or not?

I really don't use WPG. I try to use the depth and length of the tank + what the ligthing needs of the corals I am going to keep to figure my lighting. 12" - 175 watt MH are plenty. 18" 250 watt MH are plenty, 24"+ 400 watt...but that is for a mixed reef that has SPS or a SPS only tank. Softies of course need less intense lighting.

I always assumed that you just added it all together. So you are under the impression actinics wattage is different in some aspect?
