Wave Boxes

I just wet tested my 125 gallon tank with a Tunze wave box and although they are a little troublesome to get tuned in I think they work great. Mine is mounted on the left side panel of the tank and throws about 1/2 to 3/4 inch wave at the surface but I can see things bounce off the opposite end and head in the opposite direction so with my return feed at the surface with loc line of probably 1500 gph I don't run anything else for flow. I'm not sure if they are a good idea on smaller tanks.

HI Steve

A Wavebox does not replace a powerhead. It will create a back-and-forth motion that helps to keep particles in suspension for a much longer time and to minimize dead spots. The powerheads or some other means of water movement is necessary as well to move those particles into the filter. I would never ever set up a tank without a wavebox again. They are just great. Especially the new Nano Wavebox looks nice, even in very small tanks.
